PLEASE NOTE: You do not need to download the "Net Install" if you have already downloaded the four separate disk images of Open Transport 1.1.2.

What's new in Open Transport 1.1.2 - general

  • Fixes a performance problem which only affects Print Server Developers using native PAP.

  • Introduces a change to TCP that should provide a minor increase in Web servers reusing TCP connections. Open Transport will now unbind while the 2 minute disconnect timer is expiring.

  • Fixes a problem with the Open Transport serial STREAMS module that could cause a crash. The crash could result if the modem was turned off, hung, or unresponsive while a connection was attempted with OT/PPP.

  • Fixes a problem where disconnecting with MacPPP 2.5.1 could cause a crash if QuickTime Conferencing was running and waiting for connections.

  • Includes minor modifications to improve performance, compatibility and reliability.

Description: A MacOS utility which verifies the directory structure of any Hierarchial File System (HFS) based storage volume. This versions adds support for PCI-based MacOS computers, and supports volumes larger than 4 gigabytes.

Disk First Aid:

Disk First Aid is a utility which verifies the directory structure of any Hierarchial File System (HFS) based storage volume. Many hard disk drives, floppy disk and Compact Disk (CD) drives are examples of HFS-based storage volumes.

If imperfections are found within a volume Disk First Aid can be used as a "first step" to repair the defects. If a volume has suffered severe corruption other utility programs or repair methods may need to be used.

Running Disk First Aid:

Click on the volume you would like to verify or repair. Multiple volumes can be selected by holding down the Shift key while clicking on the volumes.

Select the Verify button to begin a verification process or the Repair button to verify and repair the selected volume(s).

Description: Hard drive utility for initializing, updating, partitioning, and testing Apple SCSI and IDE hard drives. This version replaces all previous versions of Drive Setup. See below for more information.

What's New in Drive Setup?

Drive Setup 1.2 includes the following new enhancements:

  • Adds support for hard drives in the PCMCIA slots and expansion bay.

  • Installs version 8.0.6 of the Apple SCSI driver, which fixes a memory allocation problem.

  • Installs the SCSI Mesh patch. For more information on the SCSI Mesh patch, please consult the Tech Info Library.

These enhancements are installed during initialization or when the user performs a driver update.

Drive Setup 1.2 requires System Software 7.5 or later. Apple recommends using Drive Setup 1.2 on the following systems:

  • Power Macintosh systems (including PowerPC-based Performa systems)

  • PowerPC-based PowerBook systems, including PowerBooks equipped with PPC Upgrade.

  • PowerBook 190 and 500 series systems

  • Macintosh 580 and 630 series systems

Drive Setup 1.2 does not support the Macintosh Processor Upgrade. If the upgrade is installed in a Macintosh 580- or 630-series system, use the "601 Processor Upgrade" control panel to turn the card off before using Drive Setup. Drive Setup 1.2 does not support the PowerBook 150. The Famous Apple!
