TOPICI am trying to set environment variables unique to each user on my Network Server. I am modifying the ".profile" file for each user, but the file is never run when I log into CDE (Common Desktop Environment) so none of the variables are set in the graphical environment. However, if a user Telnet into the machine, the variables are set.
DISCUSSIONThe environment variables for CDE are stored in the ".dtprofile" file. This file is run whenever a user logs into CDE, and is stored in the users $home directory (ksh environment). The ".profile" script is only used for shell logins, such as Telnet or rlogin.
