Macintosh System 7.5.5 Update - Apple SW Updates -> US -> Macintosh -> System -> System 7.5.5 UpdateA set of system software enhancements that improves the reliability and performance of all Macintosh and Mac OS-compatible computers running system software version 7.5.3. Also includes all of the improvements delivered with System 7.5.3 Revision 2. For complete information, please see the Read Me included with this software.
Macintosh System 7.5.5 Update OverviewWho should install the System 7.5.5 Update? Apple recommends that all customers who are currently using System 7.5.3 should install the System 7.5.5 Update. If you are using a system software version prior to System 7.5.3, you must upgrade to System 7.5.3 before you install this update. (If you are using System 7.5, 7.5.1, or 7.5.2, you can use System 7.5 Update 2.0 to upgrade to System 7.5.3.). What does installing the System 7.5.5 Update do? After you install the System 7.5.5 Update, you should notice improved performance and stability, specifically:
Important information regarding System 7.5.4 Update: System 7.5.4 Update was released by Apple Computer to a limited distribution, prior to an anticipated general release. Shortly after this limited distribution, an issue with the software was found which required a revision. This revision was named System 7.5.5 Update. It replaces System 7.5.4 Update and will install on computers which have System 7.5.4 Update installed.
Cyberdog 1.1 - Apple SW Updates -> US -> Macintosh -> System -> Net-Comm -> CyberdogProvides you with the ability to browse the World Wide Web, read and write email, follow usenet newsgroup discussions, utilize file transfer services to share files, explore gopher-space, and remotely login to computers via telnet. Incorporates the ability to view text, movies, sounds, pictures, and QuickTime VR files on the Internet, without the need for helper applications. Requires 16 megabytes of memory (or at least 8 megabytes of memory with Virtual Memory on), System 7.5 or later, OpenDoc 1.1, OpenTransport 1.1 or later (or MacTCP 2.0.4 or later).
OpenDoc 1.1 - Apple SW Updates -> US -> Macintosh -> System -> OpenDocA new plug-in software architecture that lets you extend the usefulness of your applications by easily adding new functionality. Uses software components called parts that can be "dragged-and-dropped" into documents created by any OpenDoc-aware application. OpenDoc is a cross-platform technology, documents created with OpenDoc can work across different computer platforms, including Mac OS, Windows, UNIX, and OS/2. Requires any Macintosh with 68030 or greater with Mac OS Version 7.1.1 or later, or Power Macintosh with Mac OS Version 7.1.2 or later, and at least 8MB of memory.
AppleShare 4.2.1 to 4.2.2 Updater - Apple SW Updates -> US -> Macintosh -> Net-Comm -> AppleShareThis patcher application will update AppleShare from 4.2.1 to 4.2.2. Some third party applications and control panels have been found to change the modification dates of certain files to the current date even though no changes have been made to the file.
