Macintosh System Clock - Beyond the 21st Century

You may have wondered whether the clock i your Macintosh computer will continue to function into the next century. Many stories have been circulated about computers not being able to handle dates past a certain year.

The clock chip in the Macintosh will continue to function into the next century. To confirm this, set your date to 12/31/1999 and the time to 11'59PM. Wait 60 seconds for the countdown to the next century and your computer will turn over to the year 2000. Be sure to configure your clock to show the century in the Date & Time control panel.
