TOPICWhen we print Courier on our LaserWriter Pro 630, the font comes out lighter looking than previous LaserWriter printers we've owned. I have heard of a new "darker" version of the Courier font for the LaserWriter Pro printers. How can we obtain it? Also, since Courier is the default font in HP PCL mode and we're using PC compatible computers, is there a way to download the font from our PC compatibles?
DISCUSSIONPreviously there was a "darker" version of the Courier font available that could be downloaded to the LaserWriter Pro 600 or LaserWriter Pro 630 printers using the Apple Printer Utility. Now there is a better solution. You should download the Courier TrueType font from a Macintosh (in your System Folder:Fonts) to the printer. Once downloaded, the printer uses that font in printer RAM instead of the lighter version of the font in ROM. The font remains resident in printer memory until the printer is power cycled (powered off, then back on). If this occurs you must download the font again. Unfortunately, we are unaware of a way to download the font using PC compatible computers. The only workaround is to use a Macintosh to download the font using the Apple Printer Utility.
