If you do not have everything set up properly in the Sound control panel, each time you restart the computer, sound is no longer played through the computer's internal speaker. When speakers or headphones are plugged into the sound output port on a Power Macintosh 7200 series computer, the computer mutes the built-in speaker by default during startup. This is normal for the Sound control panel to behave in this manner, and the only workaround is to change the settings after restarting the computer.
