Not much is new with the group but there have been many changes at Apple.First, for our educational members, Apple has opened the Apple Store for Education. On this web site you can not only order for your institution online, but you can now order your own Apple purchase online as well. I will also keep updating the JHU Price list so that we have a local copy of the price list.
Look for a more in-depth Newsletter next quarter as well as a newly redesigned website. Since I'm in the middle of the redesign process now, I would welcome any comments you may have about the information or lack of information on the current website. Feel free to critic as much as you like. Please let me know if their is something that you think should be on the website that is not.
We also had an Apple update on Sept 16.
JHMI Mug Membership requirements/info
Our group has only one membership requirement thus far and that is to be a member of the JHMI MUG listserv's JHMI-Talk and JHMI-Member lists.One other good reason to become a member: It's FREE. Yes, at the moment there is no membership fee and the group's resources (Web server and listserv) are currently provided by the Welch Medical Library. Because of this, I must say, the views expressed on the JHMI Mug web page and listserv are those of the respective authors and do not reflect the views of the Welch Medical Library or the Johns Hopkins University. If you are interested in becoming a member, please email mugadmin@welch.jhu.edu with the subject of Membership request.
Reminder of Members only section!
In order to make sure that only our members are taking advantage of the membership privileges such as discounted software, etc., a members only section has been created. This area is password protected and not domain controlled like the JHU price lists. Each time the user id/password is changed, members will receive and email informing the of what the new information is. (hence part of the need to be on the JHMI Mug listserv)I wish to remind you that our group is also a member of the User Group Connection and as a result our members have some other benefits. One of those being the ability to purchase items from the User Group Store. The User Group Store offers hardware and software at a discount. They also offer the JHMI Mug points for every item sold to a JHMI Mug member. The group can redeem these points for products from the User Group Store. These products would be used to enhance our service to our members. So, if the price is right for you and they have what you are looking for, it would be good for you as well as a plus for the JHMI Mug group.

Current Schedule of eventsCheck the events calendar on the Mug server for the calendar overview. Several Meetings/Demos have been recently schedule and more to come. Please check the events calendar at least once a week. A lot of times the events are schedule at very short notice.In conjunction with the Back to School special, we are planning to have a product demonstration meeting either the last week of August or the first week of Sept. Check the website's homepage or our calendar for details.
