There have been many changes recently that effect our JHU Members.
Several years ago, Apple Computer had local resellers that would support certain higher educational institutions, well, that idea is back. And none to soon I say.
JHMI Mug Membership requirements/info
Our group has only one membership requirement thus far and that is to be a member of the JHMI MUG listserve's JHMI-Talk and JHMI-Member lists.
One other good reason to become a member: It's FREE. Yes, at the moment there is no membership fee and the group's resources (Web server and listserve) are currently provided by the Welch Medical Library. Because of this, I must say, the views expressed on the JHMI Mug web page and listserve are those of the respective authors and do not reflect the views of the Welch Medical Library or the Johns Hopkins University. If you are interested in becoming a member, please email mugadmin@mug.jhmi.edu with the subject of Membership request.
New Members only section!
In order to make sure that only our members are taking advantage of the membership privileges such as discounted software, etc, a members only section has been created. This area is password protected and not domain controlled like the JHU price lists. Each time the user id/password is changed, members will receive and email informing the of what the new information is. (hence part of the need to be on the JHMI Mug listserve)
I wish to remind you that our group is also a member of the User Group Connection and as a result our members have some other benefits. One of those being the ability to purchase items from the User Group Store. The User Group Store offers hardware and software at a discount. They also offer the JHMI Mug points for every item sold to a JHMI Mug member. The group can redeem these points for products from the User Group Store. These products would be used to enhance our service to our members. So, if the price is right for you and they have what you are looking for, it would be good for you as well as a plus for the JHMI Mug group.

Current Schedule of events
Check the events calendar on the Mug server for the calendar overview. Several Meetings/Demos have been recently schedule and more to come. Please check the events calendar at least once a week. Alot of times the events are schedule at very short notice.
As promised in the last newsletter we have created a guide to assist you in configuring Open Transport PPP refered to OT/PPP. Althought this is geared toward users of the Welch Medical Library's Remote Access Pool, you can adapt the instructions to your needs. Go to the Mug's OT/PPP Help guide.
